Simply glazed fresh-picked strawberries as these from Apple Hill Farm (http://www.applehillfarmnh.com/) in Concord, New Hampshire strawberries make a quick and beautiful dessert to serve with a side of New Hampshire’s Walpole Creamery (http://www.walpolecreamery.com/site/) vanilla ice cream.

1/3 cup red currant jelly

2 Turkish bay leaves

1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar

1 quart strawberries, stemmed and large ones cut in half

Stir jelly, bay leaves and vinegar together over low heat until melted. Toss the berries gently in the sauce until they are all coated and set aside for 15-20 minutes and serve immediately.

Yield: 4 servings
